This post comes with the guide to add new key to Mini Cooper CAS3 using Lonsdor K518ISE.
Preparation:
Car: Mini Cooper CAS3
Keys: One Mini Working key+ one blank key
Device: Lonsdor K518ISE key programmer
Connect K518 to the vehicle
Test two car keys firstly, the original key works normally, but the new key doesn’t work
Step 1: Backup original key data
Go to Immobilization-> BMW-> Select from type menu
Select CAS1/CAS2/CAS3-> Backup& Recover
Pay attention to the instruction:
This function allows to restore and backup CAS key data.
1.Please carry out this before key programming.
2.When key programming causes CAS to lock, you can use the previously saved key data to reset CAS
Press OK to continue
Download application…
Read out the CAS part number, type and detailed vehicle information
Then it will take about 1 minute to read RAM.
Remove key from ignition switch (For smart key, take it outside car)
Check safety…
Read key info…
Select Backup key data-> Input the name of the file to be saved-> Confirm the name is correct-> Operation complete
Step 2: Program new key
Back to main menu
Select Program/Delete key
Pay attention to the prompt of making dealer key:
1.This can add one key (select blank position)
2.This can replace the original key (choose non-blank position)
3.This can generate key via OBD or k518 KEY SLOT
4.For CAS1/CAS2/CAS3/CAS3+ type, lost all keys programming is available

Then click start button once
Read out the vehicle info same as the step 1
Read RAM about 1 minute
Remove key from ignition switch (For smart key, take it outside car)
Check safety…
Read key info…
It will show a list of current CAS key position info
Select one unused key to generate key
Select key generation mode (original ignition coil is generated)
Note: If the key is an original key, please pre-process firstly. If the key has been programmed but failed, please do key unlocking and CAS key data restoring firstly.
Select key type depends on your need
Here select Remote key
Pull K518 key slot to the right and insert the key to be programmed (to identify if the key is legal and to pre-process key)
Detect key…
The current key detected is legal and continue to generate
Insert key needed to be programmed into car slot
Writing key info…
Please kindly notice:
If for remote or smart key, please complete following steps:
1.Take away the key from the ignition switch
2.Re-insert key into ignition switch
3.Press start button
If the vehicle cannot be started, or direction lock shows on the dashboard, please synch ELV or DME accordingly.
K518ISE write the key info successfully
Finally, use the two keys to start the car and remote, works perfectly
