A customer using Lonsdor K518 PRO reported an issue while working with a Toyota 8A/4A system. The customer had already purchased Lonsdor Toyota 8A4A License and 35 credit points and tested the procedure with different FP-30 cables, but the device still could not back up the IMMO data.
The vehicle had previously been confirmed to have a replaced ECU, and the available data was incomplete. As a result, K518 PRO could not program the replacement module.
The customer then performed an OBD cable self-check and received an error. The error remained after updating the device, raising the question of whether the OBD cable itself was defective.

I performed a self-check on the OBD cable and an error appeared. The error persists even after updating. Could a defective cable be the cause?
Solution
According to the self-check screen, the issue is not necessarily caused by a defective OBD cable.
When performing the OBD cable self-check on K518 PRO Lonsdor, make sure the power cable is also connected.
The power cable is required for the OBD self-check. Therefore, an error generated while the power cable is disconnected should not be used alone to determine that the OBD cable is defective.
Important Note for Toyota 8A4A IMMO Data Backup
The OBD cable self-check issue should also be distinguished from the previously reported Toyota 8A4A IMMO data backup problem.
In this case, the vehicle had a replacement ECU with incomplete data. This can prevent K518 PRO key programmer from obtaining the required IMMO information and programming the replacement module. The OBD cable self-check error does not by itself confirm that the cable is faulty.
