This article is a guide on how to program Mercedes W204 2008 ESL emulator using Autel IM508 Programmer.

Step 1. Check Key and EIS
Set up connection.
Turn on IM508, go to
IMMO>>Mercedes-Benz>>Manual selection>>C>>2008-2014>>Control unit
1)Test Key
Try Key first, go to
Key>>IR>>Read key information
Insert key into coil of XP400 PRO to read info.
Read key frequency to verify again.
Press any buttons beside XP400PRO.
Back to Control Unit menu.
Go to
EIS tools>>Test EIS status/ working key>>On bench (G-Box)
Connect tablet to EIS by W204 wiring diagram.
Test EIS.
Test key.
2)Test EIS
Go to
Read EIS data>>OBD>>On bench (G-Box)>>W204
Save EIS data.
Step 2. Get Key Password
Back to Control Unit menu.
Go to
Add key>>On bench (G-Box)>>W204
Follow the guide to get key password, which may take a while.
Step 3. Write ESL data
Back to Control Unit menu.
Go to
ESL tools>>W204
Connect tablet to ESL emulator by wiring diagram, which is slightly different from EIS.
Then click “Write ESL data”.
Load EIS data, and enter key password.
Now ESL emulator has all needed data.
Click “Read ESL data” to verify.
