Does Launch X431 X-PROG5 support locked BMW MD1/MG1 ECUs?
Yes. With the release of X-431 ECU Clone Software V10.75 on September 21, 2026, Launch X-PROG5 fully supports BENCH mode reading and writing for locked BMW MD1 and MG1 ECUs (equipped with TC298 chips).
This feature is supported across X-PROG5, X-431 ECU & TCU Programmer, and X-PROG3 with PC Adapter hardware platforms.

- BMW MD1CS201 (Locked)
- BMW MD1CP032 (Locked)

Features Exclusive to Launch G5
While locked BMW BENCH operations are available across multiple Launch programmers, certain h-igh-security chip protocols require X431 X-PROG5 Programmer:
- RH850 Immobilizer Reading: Read RH850 chips (R7F7010193, R7F7010253, R7F7010563, R7F7010566) in anti-theft modules for Renault, Nissan, Jeep, and Ford.
- GM BCM Operations: Read and write RH850 series chips inside GM Body Control Modules.
- Volkswagen Locked ECUs (BOOT Mode): Read and write locked VW MG1CS031 H80 and MG1CS111 H80 (TC298) control units.
- Bosch MD1CS089 (BOOT Mode): Read and write locked MD1CS089 (TC299) units in BOOT mode.
